About
Mercury (Mercury Technologies, Inc.) is a San Francisco-based fintech company founded in 2017 by Immad Akhund, Max Tagher, and Jason Zhang, with its private alpha launched in April 2019. It provides a startup-first banking and financial operations platform for startups, SMBs, ecommerce businesses, professional services firms, accounting firms, and VC funds: FDIC-insured checking and savings accounts, global wires, debit and credit cards, treasury management, venture debt and working capital loans, plus financial operations tooling for bill pay, invoicing, expense management, and accounting automation; Mercury Personal, a consumer offering, launched in April 2024. The company has layered AI capabilities on top of the platform, shipping Mercury Insights, MCP and CLI developer tooling, AI-native payroll via its acquisition of Central, and a previewed Mercury Command for completing financial work end-to-end in natural language. Mercury is not itself a chartered bank and delivers deposits through partner banks including Column and Choice Financial, but received conditional approval from the OCC in April 2026 to establish Mercury Bank, N.A. As of May 2026 it serves more than 300,000 customers, including one in three U.S. startups, reported $650 million in annualized revenue as of Q3 2025, and has been profitable for four consecutive years on both a GAAP net income and EBITDA basis.
