About
Inflection AI, headquartered in Palo Alto, was founded by Mustafa Suleyman, Karen Simonyan and Reid Hoffman around the personal AI assistant Pi, and was once the second most-funded generative AI startup after OpenAI (about $1.3B raised). In March 2024 Microsoft acqui-hired Suleyman, Simonyan and most of the team to form Microsoft AI and licensed Inflection technology. Under CEO Sean White the company pivoted to enterprise and government customers, offering assistants, productivity models and workflow tools built on its Inflection 3.0 models, while Pi continues as a consumer product. In 2026 it launched Inflection AI Labs and Pi Journeys, re-entering the consumer market.
